What is a Virus?

Biologically, a virus is defined as a tiny scrap of genetic code that attacks a living cell and produces replications of itself.

What is Computer Virus:

A computer virus is a small program that attaches itself to another program and often attacks software by making copies of itself. Like biological viruses, the virus can also be spread from one PC to another PC via computer networks or while swapping disks. A computer virus is a program. computer virus replicates itself from attachment to another program. The latest count includes thousands of Viruses, which have infected Computers. 

A Virus program often small i.e consist of a few lines of programming code that can be easily hidden in another health program. They may infect Micro Computers, minicomputers and even mainframe computers. 

A computer virus can be created in any microcomputer and are transmitted to others when an infected disk is used. computer viruses may be harmless and do nothing more than to display a short message of they may be malignant which destroys or alter data.

What is the virus hoax?

Virus hoaxes are the error reports about non-existent viruses, often the claiming to do impossibles. Some recipients occasionally believe a hoax to be a true virus warning and are taking drastic action such as shut downing their network. 

Hoaxes are a type of virus that can basically involve in  E-Mails, which describe a new dangerous undetectable virus, usually these viruses using bogus technical terms. These viruses often ask you to avoid reading or any other action on E-mails that have a particular subject line. For the instance, the good time hoax claims to put your PC's CPU in "infinite binary loop a complexity loop which can severely damage (down) the processor". The hoax warns you not to read or download anything the subject "Good Times" because the message is a virus. Then it urges you to forward the warning to as some people as possible. 

Some times these hoaxes can cost users even more than a genuine virus incident. After all, no anti-virus can detect hoaxes because these viruses are not viruses. Many companies are panic when they have received a hoax virus warning and assume the worst, making the situation much worse.
